.TH headoff "" "" "/rdb Command"
.PC "Remove an /rdb head from both table and list files"
\fBheadoff < \fItableorlist\fR
.PP
.II table^behead
.II "behead table"
.II "remove header"
.II "head line^remove"
.II "dash line^remove"
The command
.B headoff
``beheads''
.IR tableorlist ;
that is, it strips off its header.
Tables have two-line column heads; list files have only
one line that consists of a single newline character.
The COHERENT command
.B "tail +3"
does the same thing for a table; and
.B "tail +2"
for a list.
.PP
The command
.B union
uses
.B headoff
to assemble files.
Only the first file keeps its head.
.SH Example
To behead the table
.BR inventory ,
type:
.DM
headoff < inventory
.DE
.PP
This writes something like the following on the standard output:
.DM
1 3 50 150 rubber gloves
2 100 5 500 test tubes
3 5 80 400 clamps
4 23 19 437 plates
5 99 24 2376 cleaning cloth
6 89 147 13083 bunsen burners
7 5 175 875 scales
